Stage Two Public Consultation – 22 June to 05 August 2022

We are carrying out a second stage of consultation on our updated proposals for Gate Burton Energy Park after having refined the early-stage proposals we introduced to you during the first stage of non-statutory consultation earlier this year.

We have continued to shape and refine our plans, taking into consideration the feedback submitted to the initial consultation we held earlier this year, together with the findings from our ongoing environmental surveys and assessments. You can find out more about this first stage of consultation here

You’re now invited to take part in this second stage of statutory consultation we are now holding.

This consultation is open for six weeks and will run from 22 June until 05 August 2022.

During this time we are presenting our updated proposals. We invite you to tell us what you think about how they have evolved since our earlier consultation.

We’d specifically like you to tell us what you think about:

  • The overall project
  • Our updated concept masterplan setting out where equipment would be located within the solar energy park
  • The broad corridor in which an electrical connection into Cottam substation could be routed largely using underground cable
  • Measures we’re proposing to avoid or reduce those impacts associated with the project that were identified in our preliminary environmental assessment work and feedback to earlier consultation
  • Community benefits
  • Anything else you want to tell us about our work so far

After this consultation closes, we’ll review our proposals in light of the comments you provide, along with the findings from our ongoing assessments, so we can finalise our detailed proposals for Gate Burton Energy Park.

Consultation Information

We’ve prepared a set of documents and materials to explain the proposals we’re consulting on to help you provide feedback.

  • Consultation Overview Documents – these documents provide a general overview of our proposals and the information we are inviting you to provide feedback on as part of this consultation. We recommend you read these first.
  • Technical documents – we’ve conducted extensive environmental assessments as part of the development of our proposals for Gate Burton Energy Park. For this consultation the findings from the assessments carried out so far are set out in the Preliminary Environmental Information (PEI) Report

This second stage of consultation is statutory consultation required under sections 42 and 47 of the Planning Act 2008. It’s likely to be the last time we consult on our proposals before we submit our DCO application to the Planning Inspectorate. This is your opportunity to tell us what you think about how and where we’re proposing to build the project while ensuring we do so in the most sympathetic manner.

Details of how we are carrying out consultation at this stage are set out in our Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC)
